But what about the cost?
by: Alison

It's all very well to say you "feel" safe in nuclear power plants. we still do not have the solutions for safe long-term storage of nuclear waste.

And what about other aspects, such as the high cost and long lead time in building nuclear power plants.

Would we not be far better off, and more quickly, concentrating on spending these amounts on solar energy and wind power?

Regardless of whether we think global warming is caused by human action, the world has growing energy needs and we must build low-CO2 emitting, low pollution energy sources NOW.

I live next to a nuclear Power Plant..
by: Charles L. Evans

I have lived next door to the Energy Northwest Nuclear Power Plant in Richland Washington for the last 19 years. I have worked in almost all types of nuclear facilities and on most of the older Navy Nuclear Powered Ships and Subs. In all the places that I have worked in my life I have never felt safer than when I was in a Nuclear Power Plant.

I could give you a thousand reasons but those that won't listen would not read it anyway. The future of energy for the United States rests with Nuclear Power. There is no other alternative. Electric cars require electricity. Hydrogen powered cars require electricity to produce the hydrogen. The only long term source of power is nuclear using breeder reactors.

I am a retire health physics professional--radiation protection to the rest of the world and I know what I am saying.
